Our Apartments

Christopher’s Haven manages nine fully-furnished and equipped apartments and a private community recreation area known as “The Loft” at One Emerson Place in Boston. Our “community” of apartments and The Loft are located on two floors of the high-rise residential building located across the street from Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and in close proximity to other area medical centers. Out-of-town families with a child actively receiving outpatient care for cancer at a local medical center are eligible to stay at Christopher’s Haven. Siblings are an important part of the Christopher’s Haven community. Our staff ensures the siblings of the child receiving treatment are included in events and programs. Activities include summer camps, excursions, sporting events tickets and other experiences. All siblings are part of any program or activity offered at Christopher’s Haven.

We are located at One Emerson Place in Boston, MA directly behind Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). If your child is scheduled to receive outpatient cancer treatment at a local Boston children’s hospital, you are eligible to stay with us. The minimum stay at Christopher’s Haven is four weeks, during which time your child must actively be receiving outpatient cancer care in Boston. Most stays, however, typically last between six to eight weeks.

We have Studio apartments, one bedroom apartment and a two bedroom apartment. We will not guarantee any specific apartment to a family. The apartments are first come first serve rotation. We do our best to give families with larger families one bedroom apartments. We are not always able to accommodate everyone. Each apartment is fully furnished with a queen, twin, and pullout bed as well as a smart television and Wi-Fi. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a full-sized refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, dishes, pots, pans and utensils. Each apartment has a full bathroom. The apartments are furnished with blankets/linens and towels.

Loft Events

The Loft is utilized to provide programming for children undergoing treatment, siblings and parents. Activities coordinated primarily by volunteers, include massage therapy, pet therapy arts & crafts, movie nights, birthday and holiday celebrations, excursions to local attractions and tickets to local sporting events. We have meals donated to us from Local non-profits and restaurants. When a child is finished with their treatment they usually ring a bell at the hospital signifying their accomplishment. We have a big “ Bell Ringing Party” to celebrate them and the entire family.
